Too Many Boxes
follows the life story of Christian author Bernice Irby, revealing the many challenging circumstances she experienced throughout her life and showing how God granted her the strength to persevere through it all. Bernice also introduces the metaphor of “boxes” in our minds. These are experiences we suffer or bad things we learn, which then pile up in the corners and closets of our mind, blocking out our ability to see the Lord.
In this book, Bernice tells the story of a childhood spent moving between an orphanage, several foster homes, mental hospitals, and even jail. Many of these experiences had become her own boxes, which kept her from following the Word of God for many years. But in time, she cleared them away through prayer and learning about God’s Word. By reading her life story, she hopes that other people will be able to do the same.
